Application

Applications must be submitted using the application form. The project description (max. 250 words) must be written by the student. The fully completed and signed form must be sent by the supervising lecturer in electronic form only to lehre@math.lmu.de gesendet werden. Unfortunately, paper applications cannot be considered.

Only the lecturers of faculty 16 are entitled to apply.

The maximum amount of funding is 500 euros.

Funding is provided in particular for projects with a recognizable scientific character.

The funds are available to students for material expenses. This clearly includes project-related material, literature and travel and accommodation costs. The funds can also be used to cover fees for participation in conferences and workshops. Individual items may not exceed the value of 410 euros gross.

If an employment relationship exists with the LMU Munich, an additional travel permit must be obtained before attending congresses, conferences, seminars, competitions or similar external events. This is best done through the secretary's office of your supervisor.
- If a student research project requires the cooperation of a student assistant, it is basically possible to make a part of the 500 Euro available for it.

For trips to non-European countries, written permission must be obtained in advance from lehre@math.lmu.de .

The prototype of a student research project is a diploma, B.A. or M.A. thesis. Of course, other formats are also conceivable, such as group work or student conferences. In contrast, "normal" seminars, excursions or research projects by teachers are not supported.

The research projects should be integrated into the structure of the study programs. Not meant is a "time out from everyday study life" through a research project.

Project proposals must be personalized. They should be written by the students involved in the project and submitted by the supervising lecturer.

Normally, computer or book purchases are not supported, provided that the relevant literature can also be obtained from the respective institute library.

If project-specific technical devices, equipment, software licenses or the like are applied for, they must remain at the faculty after completion of the project and be made available to other students.

Student research projects that have already been carried out (from summer semester 2012) can be funded retroactively, provided that receipts and vouchers are available.
