Lernwerkstatt@math.LMU

With the project lernwerkstatt@math.lmu (Learning Workshop@math.lmu) a further measure is to improve the practical orientation of the teacher training students in the mathematics-didactic education.

For the comprehension of mathematical contents, especially for primary school children, didactic tools (e.g. calculating frames, multi-system blocks, tables of hundreds, body models, ...) play an important role. They are regularly used in schools and are already an integral part of university mathematics teaching. Due to the high number of participants and the large amount of different tools, a detailed and individual treatment of these tools by each student in the mathematics didactic courses is hardly possible.

The Learning Workshop now enables students of teaching professions to directly encounter didactic tools. There they have time to learn, apply and reflect on the various materials. Trained staff supervise the students in their work with the teaching materials, which encourages their handling and enables them to use them in a targeted manner - a prerequisite for their later professional application in class.
